The Wordless Book is a method of telling the Gospel on a child’s level by using five simple colors. This workshop is the best place to start in your training with CEF. The foundation for our curriculum is God’s Holy Word, but we often explain His Word to children by using the points taught on the Wordless Book. This workshop will give you the building blocks you will need to teach the Bible lesson, memory verse, and songs.
Wordless Book
This workshop will give you an overview of Child Evangelism Fellowship and why it is our goal to evangelize children.
Why Evangelize Children
This workshop is broken into four parts for main Bible Lesson teachers, including a class on how to counsel children after giving the invitation. These classes will walk you through how to turn any Bible story into a full Gospel presentation, taught on a child’s level. You will be able to integrate teaching about God’s love, sin, the work of Christ, and the way of salvation into children’s Bible Lessons. This training works directly with our Good News Club curriculum but can also be used in other settings such as Sunday school or overseas outreach.
Bible Lesson Teaching
CEF offers both Evangelistic Bible lessons and Growth Bible lessons. This workshop helps you to understand how the Growth lessons are formulated and how you can get the most out of CEF curriculum to assist your saved students in growing in their spiritual walk. This course should only be taken after the Bible Lesson Teaching workshop.
Growth Bible Lesson
Children love to be competitive and play games. Learn how you can integrate games into your teaching time to review the material you have covered, correct misunderstandings, and allow the children a time of fun interaction with their peers.
Review Games
Children need opportunities to be active, participate with the group, and worship. In this workshop, we train you to use music to teach the children basic Biblical truths while making it fun and interactive. And don’t worry, you don’t need to have a good singing voice to do it.
Making Song Time Meaningful
In this workshop, you will learn how to tell exciting stories about real missionaries to teach the saved children in your club the importance of sharing the Gospel with others.
Missionary Story
In this workshop, you will be taught how to use the IPEAR method to teach memory verses to the children in a clear and interactive way. You will learn how to introduce the scripture in a way that relates to the child, present where to find it in God’s word, explain complicated words and concepts, apply the verse to the child’s life, and use repetition through games and songs to help the child retain the information.
Memory Verse
This workshop is specific to Good News Club volunteers. In this workshop, you will learn how to open a club by explaining the rules, teaching the “Word Up” of the week, and leading the class in prayer. We will walk through how to get children excited to be at club while teaching important Biblical truths.
GNC Opening
You will be taught how you can teach prayer by using props, songs, and more. We will walk you through our Prayer Packet, teaching you how utilize the many tools that are included.
Teaching Children to Pray
This workshop will teach you how to present the Wonder Time segment for your club. Wonder Time is a time for children to get to know their Bibles and the One who wrote it for them. This is a great opportunity to teach basic steps of spiritual growth to young, new believers.
Wonder Time
This workshop will teach you guidelines for how to follow up with a child after he/she has made a salvation decision.
Follow Up
Once you have presented the Gospel, many children have important questions on how they can become a child of God. In Counseling 1 we focus on how to use questions to check the understanding of a child and show them the way of salvation through scripture. in Counseling 2 you will learn how to answer other tough questions that children often have about the Bible. What does the Bible say about dinosaurs? Are my pets going to be in heaven when they die? If God loves me, why do bad things happen? Learn how to counsel children with these questions and more!
COunseling
Our CPP workshop is offered for all volunteers in any area of CEF ministry. In this workshop, you will learn the proper procedures and policies that must be followed when interacting with children during CEF ministry events.
Child Protection Policy (CPP)
Throughout the year, we hold curriculum workshops to review the contents of the upcoming GNC curriculum. In this workshop, you will learn about resources you can use from CEF Press, how to play the review games for the curriculum series, what common themes you will be covering, and how you can incorporate fun props and interactions into your teaching time. This is a great resource for team leaders, Bible lesson teachers, all assistant teachers, and even shepherds.
